Seesaw Communication
Seesaw was purchased by Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to develop children’s learning profiling and share children’s learning with parents and carers. Here are some useful tips to support parental engagement with this tool.
Seesaw will be used to:
- Share progress and celebrate children’s learning
- Share and celebrate wider achievements
- Share communications about whole class learning. For example:
- “In schol next week we are building robots with junk. If you have any cereal boxes or yoghurt cartons at home, could you please send them into school for next Thursday”
- “Class 3 will require their wellies next Wednesday for some outdoor learning”
Seesaw will not be used for:
- As a means of communicating matters or concerns regarding a child’s health and wellbeing e.g. if a child is upset, feels bullied, has injured themselves, home time arrangements, lost items or if a parent has concerns about their child’s learning. These issues should be communicated to the school through the school office, either by phoning on 01851 703418 or by emailing stornowayprimary@gnes.net
- Evening or weekend messaging. Many of our teachers work after school hours; however, they are not obligated to respond to messages in the evening or at weekends.
Online security - what to consider:
- It is essential that you always use best practices to ensure your password is secure:
- Use different passwrds on different systems and accounts.
- Dn't use passwords that are based on personal information that can be easily accessed or guessed.
- Use the lngest password or passphrase permissible by each password system.
- Seesaw recommend that you refresh your web browser and if using Seesaw on a mobile device, you can update your device to the latest app version (version 8.1.2, released September) and re-launch Seesaw or close and re-open the Seesaw app (Here are instructions to close iOS and Android devices).

We look forward to further developing our use of Seesaw to share and celebrate learning and wider achievements for all pupils this session. If you have any concerns, questions or require further support with Seesaw, please do not hesitate to contact the school office. Thank you.
